I have saved stacks and stacks of Christmas cards, which we have enjoyed using for collages, ornament-making, etc. A few nights ago, I pulled out my square craft punch and made this simple puzzle/game.

Delaney has been really interested in writing lately -- especially her name, but other letters and numbers as well. Her little scribbles and letter shapes have been on grocery lists, maps, Christmas wish lists, and sweet letters and cards. Since she is so interested in writing right now, I have been trying to offer her lots of extra fine-motor activities to help build strength and coordination in her fingers and hands. Of course to her, it's just playing - which is just how I like it! :)

The other night, while watching a bit of the debate, I cut out some make-your-own scarecrow pieces for our felt board. The girls still enjoy using the felt board, and it gets even more use when new pieces appear.

I realize that it's not technically Autumn yet. It is still quite hot and summery around here. But I am wishing for fall, so why not start with some fun Autumn Bingo!

Okay, I've got one more round of Olympic fun for you! Since my girls are really into all things tiny (i.e. fairies), we decided to do some itty bitty Olympic events. Here's what we did:

This week's theme over at Unplug Your Kids was garden. We've been enjoying making simple file folder games lately, so we decided to do some with a garden theme. The girls decided they wanted their paths to be like stepping stones, then they decorated them with stickers and crayons.

After all our Easter activities this weekend, we have added to our already extensive collection of plastic Easter eggs! Although I am tempted to gather them all up from the corners of my house and pack them away immediately, I think I will let the girls enjoy them a bit longer. When you have had enough fun re-creating Easter egg hunts around your house, here are some creative & easy ways to play with those eggs a bit longer. Enjoy!

My girls LOVE to play bingo! We make our own bingo games -- sometimes I make them on the computer, other times we print out a blank grid and we use seasonal stickers for the pictures. We play bingo with letters, numbers, rhyming words, shapes, money, holidays, etc. Practically any skill you want to work on can be made into a bingo game! Ready to play? Here's what you need:
How about a fun Travel Bingo? Make bingo boards with pictures of things you might see while driving. Tape the bingo board to a small cookie sheet and use magnets for markers. Or, put the bingo board into a plastic sheet protector and use a dry erase marker to mark your sights on the road. Just might help pass the time on a long drive!
Here is a similar portable bingo for the grocery store -- just fill your board with pictures of food and let your little one hunt and mark while you shop! (Microsoft Word Document)
and Spring Bingo:
and here's a blank bingo board for creating your own games!
This site also has printable bingo cards with lots of themes to choose from.
I would love to hear about your bingo playing adventures!
